The growing development and progression of corneal transplantation have lead it to a popular surgery, while proper preservation of cornea is the key to successful transplantation. Most widely used corneal preservation solution such as K-S0K, CSM, Dexsol, and Optisol are expensive and have similar function, with only difference in substance and concentration. Furthermore, several researches indicated that dextran substance from the solution may have negative effects on corneal and may cause damages to corneal epithelium.The"Corneal Preservation Solution" that BioFirst developed is made of natural biodegradable biopolymers which substitute dextran and regulate the osmotic pressure of the solution. We also add antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecules to reduce swelling and polutions of the preserved corneal. This new type of corneal preservation solution not only effectively reduces cost, but also endows patients with clear corneal right after transplantion.
